  • While I don't like the idea of shooting any person or animal, anyone who has a problem with this animal being killed doesn't know the first thing about rabies- it is always fatal in (unvaccinated) animals in 7-10 days, and the last state involves paralysis and death by respiratory arrest.

  • Uh, nah, this is depressing. We destroy or significantly eff up their habitat, it understandably makes 'em sick, and then we revel in treating them like a bag of trash. Hey, I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same thing, in a similar situation. But it would make me sad, not gleeful. So incredibly stupid, how we hold nature in such sickening disregard. Especially, since we're part of it, and are going to cease to exist due to that stupidity/indifference. Native Americans knew the significance of the presence of animals, the symbolism spoke to them. The bobcat, among other things, represents a teacher, intellect, awareness and solitude, feminine energy (a lack of which has made our world a place of "madness") . So a sick bobcat or one that is "mad." Um, the message would take on a reverse of those things. Not so bright, not seeing things clearly (see our world), and possibly a fear of being alone. And again, "madness" due to a lack of our powerful feminine energy. That is, a world that ignorantly "worships" its masculine energy, to the great detriment to humanity. But no, this is very depressing. Especially if you perceive it at a deeper (feminine) level, rather than our usual MO, superficial (masculine energy). GD, I just wish we would wake up, before it's too late. If you don't feel a strong connection to and love for nature, then this is a message for you. If human beings are all you care about, then you don't really care about humanity. Because we are nature.

  • Replace the word "bobcat" with "karen" for a really funny story. Either way, I am not easily intimidated, so I would handle the situation the same way. Though actually throwing a karen may be a bit more difficult. Have you noticed it is rarely the petite ones who have the karen approach to life? I usually just call them out for their behavior. I have a voice that can be heard over any karen. As they leave in shame with their tails tucked and their heads hung in shame, I like to holler "Some people's parents weren't skilled enough to raise a half-way decent human being". One karen wouldn't make eye contact with me for a year after I corrected her. The funny thing is that both she and her daughter are the biggest karens in our small town, and I have yet to hear of either karening since then. I had a similar experience with a gun toting contractor who arrived at my house one night after being told not to come over. He had been doing some kind of drugs so his judgement was a tad skewed. I was sitting in the dark waiting for him. I was unarmed, but I used my voice to control the situation. He lefty town for a week in fear. On a different note, I was skinny-dipping (okay, chunky-dunking) in a cool mountain stream in the woods om Maine one day when I noticed a full grown black bear wandering upstream in my direction. He hadn't noticed me, so I slowly moved toward my things to grab them and get out of his way. Suddenly he looked up and noticed me. I am guessing he was intimidated by what he saw because he bolted into the woods, never to be seen again. You can't let any critter, human or wild beast, control a situation unless it means certain death. You cannot let bullies win. My response to the bear was different because I was in HIS yard, so I respected nature enough to yield the right-of-way. Bringing this into the political realm, the Dems need to grow more backbone. They let the GOP walk all over them. I understand that Mitch's face is hideous enough, and NOBODY wants to see him cry, but that is no excuse. EVERYBODY involved in the capitol riots should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Of course, if I had been in charge of Capitol security on Jan 6th, it would have been less of a problem because a line of machine gun turrets in front of the capitol would have dealt with the situation, one way or another. I wouldn't care what #45 said because it is an affront to our Constitution to obey an unlawful order from the White House. I guess they are just lucky I don't have ambitions to spend time in Washington D.C.. Nope, I fought my battles over the decades, whether it be corrupt clergy in the high school I attended, town politics, or me pulling over a police officer at 2am to chew him out for following me (we actually had a long discussion about how to interact with the community and build a rapport of mutual respect), I am scaling back. It is up to the Millennials, supported by GenZ, to float candidates and win the primaries so that they can take control of Congress in 2022. Politics in this nation is like a diaper, and it is way overdue for a change. But, don't get me started.

  • That was a very small bobcat. The ones I've seen are almost twice that size, have longer legs as well. I hope those people got the treatment for rabies if the cat was legit confirmed to be rabid. I had a small black cat years ago that was fond of attacking people and dogs. She sent two full grown labs screaming from our yard, terrorized a neighbor's poodle so much that he wouldn't come near our place ever again.

    RhondaHRhondaH10 dögum síðan
  • Hopefully those people got vaccinated against getting rabies themselves from that bobcat. Also, it sounds like there is a rabies problem in the bobcat population, which should be looked at.

  • How do you or anyone else know that the bobcat was rabid? We encroach on wild habitats. We don't know how long the people lived there, how old the house is, how close they are to a natural habitat or any other pertinent information. Even if it was caught how does anyone know it was the right one. You are assuming it was rabid. I propose it was just living its life and some asshole human got too close, it spooked and attacked.

  • Over the past 100 years we have either made extinct or put on the endangered list thousands of beautiful wild animals. For an animal to thrive, it needs wilderness but we have destroyed most of that. So wild animals end up in the cross hairs of communities. We destroy their habitat and the food chain disappears so they forage through our garbage. We seal our garbage cans to prevent them from foraging. We destroy any possible food source they might have. And on and on. So no - this is not the story I wanted to see right now. It is the last kind of human centric narcissistic and oblivious story that I want to see. We have an environmental crisis, a climate crisis and we are moving on to the 6th extinction. Supposedly your show is one of the more "woke" shows on the air but - like A Late Show - there is a blind spot when it comes to any kind of real understanding of our relationship to animals and to all animals rights in general. oh well.
